About Dr. Tyler Youn
Dr. Tyler Youn brings a calm, unhurried approach to Scottsville Family Dentistry and a clear philosophy: every great smile starts with building relationships, through honest conversations and care that never feels rushed. His practice focuses on comprehensive restorative and cosmetic dentistry, implant dentistry, and oral surgical procedures, with treatment plans thoughtfully designed around each patient's goals, anatomy, and long-term oral health.
Using modern digital treatment planning, he approaches every case with precision and care, and a genuine commitment to outcomes that are clinically sound, comfortable, and lasting. Whether restoring a single tooth or rebuilding a more complex smile, every plan is built around the patient in the chair.
Implant dentistry is a particular focus. Dr. Youn places and restores dental implants using the BioHorizons implant system, and he earned a national first-place research award from the Academy of General Dentistry for his work on implant screw tightening techniques and screw joint stability, a distinction that reflects his meticulous approach to long-term implant success.
Dr. Youn earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) from the University of Washington School of Dentistry and was inducted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon (OKU), the nation's most prestigious dental honor society, in recognition of academic and clinical excellence. He completed hospital-based Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery externships at Broward Health Medical Center and Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital in Florida, as well as Harborview Medical Center in Washington.
He has been recognized by several leading dental organizations, including the American College of Dentists, the Academy of Operative Dentistry, and the Academy of Dental Materials. Committed to lifelong learning, he continues to pursue advanced education in implant, restorative, and surgical dentistry to deliver current, evidence-based care.
Dr. Youn believes the best outcomes begin with trust. He takes the time to listen, explains options in plain language, and never rushes treatment decisions. Outside the office, he enjoys hiking, traveling, and spending time with his family.
Dr. Youn sees patients alongside the rest of the Scottsville Family Dentistry team at 1936 West River Road. The office serves families from Scottsville, Charlottesville, Palmyra, Lake Monticello, Dillwyn, and across Albemarle, Fluvanna, and Buckingham counties.
